Ramadan Notes - Week Three

During these days, remembering Him is a joyful chanting inside your heart.  You rejoice in hearing His Name; you can disappear into a world with you and Him alone.  You are knee deep in this, and still wading confidently in deeper.

Your music is His Praise and the praise of His Messenger (peace and blessings upon him).  You feel serene.  You open the Book with the words of your Lord and feel enlightened.  You have more than two eyes because you can now see with your heart.

You want to swim.  You continue to wade in, the chill of the water of dhikr (remembrance) soothing your sore, fasting throat.  You want to go deeper into the joy of praising your Creator.

Your hope in my heart is the rarest treasure
Your Name on my tongue is the sweetest word
My choicest hours
Are the hours I spend with You —
O Allah, I can’t live in this world
Without remembering You—
How can I endure the next world
Without seeing Your face?
