Ramadan Notes - Day One

Realize that there is a light in your heart, and it shines brighter by your acknowledging it.  It illuminates your path; it is bright because of your unrelenting faith.

On the first day of this beautiful month, remember that Your Friend doesn't judge you like the world judges you.  He doesn't think any less or more of you for your looks, your ancestry, your ethnicity, your career, your wealth, or even your talents and intellect.  He only judges you based on the beauty inside of your heart.

And that beating heart inside your chest--blessed with blood flow on this day of mercy--is your link to the Divine.  You don't need another human or a magic potion to access Him.  He is Here, for you, and especially you during these wonderful moments.

So reflect.  Reflect His Beauty, His Oneness, His Friendship, and as you do, imagine your heart being illuminated exponentially.  Because that's what's happening to your heart.  It is rejoicing in the light of the Merciful.

And through your faith, you are worthy of experiencing the greatest joy.

He who fasts has two joys: a joy when he breaks his fast and a joy when he meets his Lord.
