Ramadan Notes - Week Two

You may miss suhoor [the pre-dawn meal] in Ramadan, and go through the day thirsty and hungry.  You feel dizzy and fatigued, and you can't even fathom mustering the energy to do the bare minimum today.

And He is with You.

This is a day you feel for the hungry on earth.  This a day that you experience a small glimpse into the world of those less fortunate than you.  And you cry--not for yourself, but for all your brothers and sisters around the world who do not have the most fundamental necessities.

You cry for all the hungry children; you cry for your family-in-faith in Syria.

You feel the pain.

You have actualized the words of your Prophet (asws).

The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a [single] body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.
— Prophet Mohammad p.b.u.h. (Sahih Muslim)
