Cloaking in a long, black robe called the abaya is no hold-back for the women here and their fashionista tendencies. I can't help but enjoy copying off of some of the styles that are popular now in Saudi--clunky, bold handbags and Versace sunglasses. Layered anklets and unapologetically thick eyeliner.
The truth is that the beauty in this country is stark and intimidating. I feel slightly disappointed when I return to the States and see the laid-back, understated-but-comfortable fashion that I grew up with. Bring on the bags!
