Riyadh Apartment Tour!
I moved to Riyadh in 2011 and have remained with the same company since. When I moved here, the company placed me in this tiny (but cute!) little apartment on the outskirts of Riyadh called New Arqah. "New" is an understatement--it is chronically under development and you routinely wake up in the morning to the lovely hum of the jackhammer (note the sarcasm there).
However, the wonderful thing was that the little place was all for Suzie and I, and it has a small kitchen, dining area, living room, and bedroom.
The bathroom has a lovely garden tub and let me tell you, Suzie has had one too many baths in that thing (she does not share my enthusiasm at the notion of having a built-in chair to sit down in while I bathe her).
Recently, the school has built a new building with apartments for teachers in a more popular area of Riyadh called al-Sulaimaniyah. I was so excited about the move--while I type this, half of my belongings are in boxes. However, at the last minute, some of my whining coworkers convinced them to leave us here until the end of the year. I am so bummed.
First, my friends are all moved into the new apartments, and I was looking forward to having them as neighbors. Secondly, I was actually intending to begin filming for this website, and the new apartment had a beautifully chic backdrop that would have worked perfectly. And, last but not least, I purchased tons of stuff and tore them out of the wrappers for packing efficiency--bedding, bathroom accessories, and other things that don't fit in with the current furnishings of this apartment.
Either way, I wanted to share some of my pictures of the current apartment. I will keep you, dear readers, posted on whether or not I move after all!
