When I was younger I used to wish I was a boy. I would hear the beautiful voices singing the praises of the Messenger and I wanted to do that too. I wanted to be in battle, to speak out, to sing--but this, I was told, is boy-only zone.
I still wish, sometimes, that I were a man. Recently I was introduced to the founder of a known Muslim record label and was given the, "Sorry, no women allowed" ordeal. It definitely hurt, but God is Greater than these obstacles.
I don't want to hate being female, but the flaws in the Muslim community today make those emotions too difficult to fight sometimes.
